the business to adapt to best-in-class practices. Today, Bitar has over 20 years of FMCG
experience that spreads across Europe, Middle East and North Africa region with an
extensive background in trading, branding, and distribution. His contributions have
allowed his family’s endeavors to vertically expand into packaging, empowering him to
launch a leading brand in the rice and grain industry, Deroni, a leading brand in
Romanian and Bulgarian markets. Under his leadership, the business has taken over a
sizable market share in numerous industries and countries. Bitar’s success has been
defined by his resolute mindset, which has pushed him to take strategic directions to
ensure that sustainability and corporate governance are kept at the forefront of his
business operations.
With his international exposure, namely in the Middle East and the European Union,
Bitar’s success stories have inspired him to return to Lebanon and invest in his home
country in 2015. His latest work has allowed him to expand into the discount store
vertical with Tawfeer stores, which are now a leading household name with more than 22
stores operating in Lebanon. His current goal for Tawfeer is a breathtaking 100 branches
in Lebanon by 2030.
While upholding his business objectives, Bitar retains his beliefs in advancing human
capital by maintaining a happy and fulfilled workforce with clear and actionable steps.
Under his auspices, Bitar International has integrated CSR initiatives within its
functions by working with different NGOs and international organizations, such as the
World Food Program (WFP), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), United
Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID), as well as different educational and sports-related initiatives.
In an effort to give back to his community, he has also succeeded in becoming a member
of the
UNGCP Lebanon council, which has allowed him to introduce considerable and dynamic initiatives, including
his latest endeavor to provide more than 100 children aged between 10 and 18 with the
chance to enhance their football skills and foster their athletic talent.
